BATON ROUGE – A fugitive wanted by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office for attempted robbery has been arrested for attempted carjacking on Government Street.

Deondrick Bowser, 26, was arrested on charges of attempted carjacking and resisting an officer. A fugitive warrant was issued previously by EBRSO for Bowen for attempted robbery.

A man told officers that Bowser attempted to enter his vehicle while it was stopped at the intersection of Government Street and the northbound I-110 exit ramp. The man told officers that Bowser pulled on the car door handle and reached into his waistband as if he were going to pull out a gun.

The man sped away from Bowser after his attempt and called police.

Bowser was found still in the area by police and fled on foot upon an officer's arrival. However, the officer was able to block Bowser in his BRPD unit.

Bowen was arrested on the above charges.
