HAMMOND- A plant worker, killed when the chemical facility where he works exploded Thursday, was remembered as a young man who made people laugh.

Zachary Green, 29, died in the explosion at the Williams Olefins plant in Geismar.  He was an operator at the facility.

Green's friends and family in Tangipahoa Parish quickly took to social media sites to remember the man, who they said had a wife and a young daughter.

"We are grieving for the loss of Zack who was part of our Williams community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time of sorrow," the company said in a statement late Thursday night.

"We also remain deeply concerned about Williams' personnel and contractors who sustained injuries, some quite serious."

Twenty-six people remained in hospitals late Thursday, three were reportedly in critical condition. Fifty-one others were released.

Now, investigators will begin to try to figure out what caused the explosion.
