BATON ROUGE- The best friend of an LSU student, arrested and accused of trying to kill her mom, told WBRZ News2 in an exclusive interview that Nicole Boover didn't act like someone who would want to kill.
"There were no signs leading up to what would happen," the young woman said. She asked not to show her face on television, or publish her name on WBRZ.com.
But, she did want to talk about her friend.
She is curious, "Why would she throw her life away?"
LSU Police arrested Boover earlier this week and later arrested Nathan Yuhas. According to investigators, Boover tried to kill her mom and Yuhas helped. Boover's mother lived in New Orleans, where officers say she was motivated to kill by an inheritance.
"She was passionate about what she wanted to do... passionate about biology," she said. The friend is also a student at LSU.
"I didn't believe it. I still don't. It's not real yet."
Boover's mother wasn't injured in the attack.
In Baton Rouge, her friend has lots of questions.
"I feel deceived, because we were such great friends. Whatever led her to do that...she didn't trust me enough to tell me."
