Four arrested in Walker church theft case
WALKER - People in Walker were able to rest easy Monday night, after four alleged thieves were arrested and charged.
Matthew LeRoy,19, Justin Kent Slinker, 18, Christopher Allen Parker, 19, and Tarence Fisher , 20, were arrested for simple burglary of a religious building. The crime happened at Walker Baptist Church.
Pastor Ray McCon says the thieves broke into the building through a window, then busted a locked door to get to the church safe. The safe stored documents and cash.
Walker police found the safe and recovered some of the documents inside the safe; but the cash was gone.
Pastor McCon says that some of the men arrested had attended the church's youth group. The money stolen from the safe was slated for youth mission trips.
Most, if not all of not all, of the money and lost property was replaced with donations from the congregation and from anonymous donors.
