NEW ORLEANS - New Orleans Police say a 4-month-old girl was shot when she was caught in an exchange of gunfire in a neighborhood near the Mississippi River.
Capt. Bob Bardy says the infant was among five people wounded in the Monday afternoon incident. Bardy says the infant has been "stabilized" but two men hit in the crossfire are believed to be in critical condition.
The victims' names and ages were not immediately available. Bardy says one man was shot in the chin, another in the back and a third in the arm. A bullet hit a woman in the foot. It wasn't clear where the child was hit.
There were no immediate suspects or motives.
Bardy says a gun was recovered from at least one of the victims and police are searching for occupants of a white Cadillac that fled the scene.
