Founder of Baton Rouge TV station WAFB dies
BATON ROUGE - The founder of Baton Rouge television station WAFB-TV, Tom Gibbens, died this weekend. He was 95.
Gibbens launched the station in 1953 and was its first general manager. It was the first live television station in Baton Rouge, and only the second in Louisiana.
Visitation and a Christian Mass for Gibbens are Wednesday, June 27 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Government Street. Visitation at the church will be from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
The burial will be held on Wednesday at Green Oaks Cemetery on Florida Blvd.
