LEESVILLE - Fort Polk Progress members will be in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday and Wednesday in an effort to sustain and grow Fort Polk.

The group will meet with Sen. Mary Landrieu, who is on the Senate Committee on Appropriations, which is considered to be the most powerful panel on Capitol Hill. Members also will visit with Sen. David Vitter and U.S. Reps. John Fleming, of Minden, and Rodney Alexander, of Quitman.

The purpose of the meetings will be to keep Fort Polk, and all it has to offer the Army, in the forefront of the minds of decision makers as they consider troop strength at the base.
