A former South Lafourche High School principal is suing the parish's schools superintendent and school board, alleging her contract was not renewed because of racial and gender discrimination.
In the suit filed last week, Curole alleges the Lafourche School Board and Superintendent Jo Ann Matthews acted in "bad faith" in refusing to rehire her.
Curole is seeking monetary damages for money she lost, when her contract was not renewed one year before she was set to retire.
Members of the Lafourche Parish School Board voted June 10, 2009, not to renew the Curole's contract.
She had been the school's principal for eight years.
Vice principal Aubrey "Bubba" Orgeron replaced her.
