BATON ROUGE - A federal judge sentenced former Port Allen Mayor Derek Lewis to 40 months in prison Tuesday, after Lewis pleaded guilty to racketeering charges.
He testified against former New Roads Mayor Tommy Nelson and former St. Gabriel Mayor George Grace in exchange for a lighter sentence.
The court asked Lewis to forfeit all the property obtained from racketeering activity, including $18,990.
The court gave Lewis time to put his affairs in order. The former mayor is scheduled to report to the Bureau of Prisons on Monday, July 23 at 2pm.
