Former Port Allen mayor chosen to fill seat
BATON ROUGE - Gov. Bobby Jindal chose a former mayor of Port Allen to fill the office vacated when Deedy Slaughter was recalled.
Jindal's office named Marilynn "Lynn" Bergeron Robertson of Port Allen to the post earlier Tuesday. She previously served as mayor from 1993 to 2004, and was the town's first female mayor.
Voters recalled Deedy Slaughter from the office last month after several News 2 investigations into questionable spending and decisions while she was in office.
An election to choose a new mayor is scheduled for May 3, 2014.
WBRZ News 2 will have more on the governor's decision in tonight's broadcasts.
