WEST BATON ROUGE - The Port Allen councilman caught up in 2009's Operation Blighted Officials sting received a lenient sentence in court Thursday due to his cooperation with authorities.
A federal judge sentenced former Port Allen City Councilman Johnny Johnson to 6 months in a half-way house and 2 year probation. He must also pay back the $2460 he used to purchase Bayou Classic tickets.
Prosecutors were complimentary of Johnson, saying that he cooperated to the fullest with the investigation.
Johnson plead guilty to felony charges of racketeering and bribery which included accepting Bayou Classic Tickets.
