BATON ROUGE - Police have arrested a woman accused of running up thousands of dollars on a credit card that belonged to her former employer.

31-year-old Danielle Matherne, of Walker, was booked on charges of theft and unauthorized use of an access card after she was taken into BRPD custody.

Managers at the Northgate apartment complex contacted investigators to report that Matherne, a former employee, had charged her company credit card multiple times without their permission.

According to apartment managementl, Matherne was employed as a property manager from Nov. 2015 to Feb. 2016 until she resigned from the position.

Prior to her resignation, Matherne was issued a credit card by the complex's vice president for any purchases that needed to be conducted for the property.

The vice president said she noticed the card had several charges in the month of March without her authorization. The credit card charges were able to be linked to advertising purchased for a Facebook page linked to Matherne for a business she had started called Decor De Lis Interiors. The charges totaled just over $2,000, according to the vice president.

The victim also informed BRPD that a $2,000 check request from a graphics company was received while Matherne was still employed by the complex. Investigators also discovered a second check request for $2,500 that was received while Matherne was employed by another company owned by the apartment complex vice president. Matherne was unable to provide receipts for any of the received invoices in these instances.

In yet another incident of theft, complex management reported that on one occassion only $30 was left in a cash box in the complex office at the time of Matherne's resignation when there should have been more cash inside.

Matherne was booked into the EBR Parish Prison on the above charges.
