A former Monroe attorney has been sentenced to seven years hard labor on each of six counts of felony theft of funds belonging to his former clients.
However, all but two years of the seven-year sentence were suspended.
Bernard Grenrood was sentenced to five years probation and ordered him pay restitution of $106,200 to the clients he victimized.
Grenrood pleaded guilty in March to six counts of theft in excess of $500.
Grenrood was accused of stealing part of a family's inheritance in the wake of their father's death in 2003.
