BATON ROUGE - Billy Cannon, LSU's only Heisman Trophy winner, has some residual health issues as he rests at home this weekend after suffering a stroke Tuesday, but doctors project his health will return to normal in four to six weeks, according to his family.

Cannon suffered the stroke while working at Angola Prison where he provides dental services. He spent two nights at Our Lake of the Lake Regional Medical Center before returning home on Thursday. He is scheduled for follow up visits to see doctors, but is getting stronger every day according to the family.

"My family and I would like to thank everyone so much for the supportive emails, calls and prayers during the last week," said his daughter, Bunnie Cannon. "We are humbled and grateful. We also wish to thank the doctors, nurses and employees of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. They were wonderful and saw that he received the best possible care. Thank you again for all of your prayers and well wishes. They worked!"
