Former governor Edwards' wife in labor
BATON ROUGE - The wife of former governor Edwin Edwards, Trina Scott Edwards, is in labor.
The couple made the announcement on Trina's Facebook page earlier this afternoon, saying they were preparing to welcome Eli Edwards into the world.
The two married shortly after Edwin Edwards was released from federal prison in 2011. He served a 10-year sentence for a bribery and extortion scheme rigging riverboat casino licenses.
The Edwards are the subject of an upcoming reality TV show called "The Governor's Wife," focusing on how the 34-year-old Trina fits in with her 85-year-old husband's family.
