BATON ROUGE- Former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards is recovering after being admitted to an area hospital.

Edwards' wife Trina Scott-Edwards tells News 2 he was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center to be treated for pneumonia.

Scott-Edwards says her husband's condition may be caused from being "very busy the past few days with travelling and book signings."

Scott-Edwards tells News 2 she expects a full recovery soon.

The couple was married last year following Edwards' release from federal prison.

The four term governor was convicted of racketeering charges.

No word on when the 84-year-old will be released from the hospital.
