BATON ROUGE - A once-escaped inmate is accused of burglarizing multiple 18-wheelers while being wanted by law enforcement.

Michael Jones fled a West Baton Rouge Parish facility at the start of November. Before being recaptured on December 2, deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office say Jones burglarized three tractor trucks at an area truck stop.

The first burglary was reported on November 25 at a business in the 1400 block of Airline Highway. In all three incidents, the suspect broke the windows to get inside the trucks.

Items stolen included electronics, a trailer lock kit, men's clothing and food.

According to the arrest report, authorities received tips that Jones was hiding around the area where the 18-wheelers had been burglarized.

On November 28, agents attempted to arrest Jones, but he ran into a nearby wooded area and eluded capture. He was later apprehended at the beginning of December.

Jones has been charged with simple burglary and simple criminal damage to property for the incidents at the truck stop. He was also booked on simple escape charges.
