Former employee arrested for jewelry store theft
KENNER - Police have arrested a former employee of a Kenner jewelry store accused of stealing more than $22,000 worth jewelry.
A Kenner police spokesman tells The Times-Picayune 23-year-old Darius Williams was booked Wednesday with theft of $1,500 or more.
The jewelry store contacted authorities in last August after they discovered the thefts. The store employed Williams as an associate working the counter between January and August 2012.
Williams was booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna. He was released Thursday on $25,000 bond.
It was unclear whether Williams has attorney.
