Former Dillard administrator facing theft charge
NEW ORLEANS - A former Dillard University administrator faces a Jan. 7 trial on a charge that he overbilled the school for repairs performed by a company he owned.
The Times-Picayune reports that a one-count federal theft indictment alleges that Matthew Gardner, Dillard's former facilities director, concealed his role in a company that overbilled the school by more than $87,000.
Gardner held his job from December 2009 to February 2010. Federal court records show that he pleaded not guilty to the charge earlier this month and has been assigned a public defender.
