Former congressman's brother faces jail time
Political operative Mose Jefferson has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for bribing a former New Orleans school board president.
In August, a jury convicted Jefferson of charges he paid kickbacks to Ellenese Brooks-Simms for her support in awarding school contracts to a computer-based teaching system he sold.
Jefferson was also fined $975,000 and ordered to repay $913,000 to the Orleans Parish School Board.
Jefferson is a brother of former U.S. Rep. William Jefferson, who is out on bond appealing a 13-year federal prison sentence for using his influence to broker business deals in Africa.
