Former Colts player chimes in on Super Bowl
A former Indianapolis Colts player from Baton Rouge says he will be happy regardless of who wins the Super Bowl this weekend.
Eugene Daniel played for the Colts from 1984 to 1996. Daniel said while he is happy to see his team get another shot at the Super Bowl, he has an allegiance to the New Orleans Saints.
"It's hard if you're from Louisiana not to pull for New Orleans," said Daniel.
Daniel said he had a feeling the Saints would do well this year. He even told a friend not to sell his season tickets at the beginning of the year, because he thought the Saints would go far.
"They're doing some things this year that I don't think anyone in the state or country thought they would do," said Daniel. "It's been a big boost for Louisiana and a big plus for the people."
But there is still a part of Daniel that can't help but get excited to see the Colts play in the big game again.
"It kind of gives you a sense of pride because you knew you were a part of the team," said Daniel.
Regardless of who he plans to support, Daniel said he understands what players are going through to prepare for the game. He said it is important for them to focus, not get overly excited, and remember what it takes to win.
