Former bookkeeper pleads guilty to federal charges
A New Orleans woman who was a bookkeeper for a nonprofit agency that had a contract with the Army has pleaded guilty to federal charges of embezzlement of over $1 million.
Abigail John admitted that she embezzled over $1 million of federal program funds by depositing fraudulent company checks into her personal accounts, cashing fraudulent checks, and by diverting
fraudulent company checks to her mortgage company.
John faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
