Former Baton Rouge area lawmaker dies at 73
BATON ROUGE, La. - Former Baton Rouge area lawmaker Donald Ray Kennard, who worked as an athletic adviser at LSU for more than 20 years, has died.
He was 73.
LSU says Kennard died Friday following complications from a brain aneurysm.
Kennard, a Republican from Central, represented parts of East Baton Rouge and Livingston parishes in the state House of Representatives for eight terms, from 1976 to 2008, when term
limits barred him from a re-election bid.
He was also an academic adviser to LSU's student athletes for more than 20 years and worked for the LSU Sports Radio Network.
Kennard is survived by his wife, Ramona "Mona" Norris, two children and four grandchildren.
