Former SU band members sentenced for hazing
Three former Southern University band members pleaded "no contest" to their involvement in the hazing of three other band members.
Lagarian Bridgewater, Carlos-Andres Carter and Clifton Taylor were sentenced to two years supervised probation on charges of conspiracy to commit second degree battery and hazing.
The three were also required to write two essays on hazing incidents.
The hazing was part of an initiation into the band's unofficial french horn fraternity, before the Bayou Classic football game in New Orleans last year.
Two victims were hospitalized in critical condition after the incident. A third opted out of the initiation after being hit at least 50 times by a wooden board.
Harvey Harrison, Joseph Webb, Jeremy Dixon and Aubrey Harris, four other suspects in the hazing are expected to enter similar pleas.
