The number of people on food stamps in Louisiana is staggering.
The state is well above the national average. One in five people gets help paying for food, and that’s about 850,000 people. That’s also 19 percent of the population, compared to the national average of about 13 percent.
News 2’s Mike Steele got answers on why more people are on assistance.
