METAIRIE - State police say an unsecured baby crib flew out of the back of a pickup on eastbound Interstate 10 in Metairie, causing a four-car crash.
Troopers say the chain-reaction wreck occurred just after 10 a.m. Thursday near Causeway Boulevard.
Trooper Melissa Matey tells The Times-Picayune the empty crib came from the bed of a truck driven by 28-year-old Thomas Gordon of New Orleans. The crib caused a car following the truck to swerve left and hit a Kia Sorrento sport utility vehicle. The SUV overturned and was hit by the fourth vehicle.
An unidentified 64-year-old passenger in the SUV was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. No one else was injured.
Matey says Gordon was cited for traveling with an unsecured load.
