Alberici Constructors of St.Louis has won a $495,000 pre-construction services contract to construct a storm surge barrier on the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal at Seabrook in the New Orleans area.

The floodgates will close off the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal at the point where it meets Lake Pontchartrain.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said it will cost about $155 million to build the gates.
