Flipped RV closes I-10E past Gonzales
SORRENTO - State Police said an overturned recreational vehicle caused traffic to stack up on I-10 East starting at milepost 189 about 10 miles east of Gonzales Monday morning.
Troopers announced all lanes of I-10E were back open shortly after 12:30 p.m. when vehicle recovery efforts were completed.
Traffic quickly backed up after the accident happened around 10 a.m. Monday with many motorists choosing to cross the median and head westbound in order to avoid the traffic. LA DOTD reported the queue connected to accident backed up past US 61. A recommended alternate route is to exit I-10E at La. 22 and then get back on at 641. State Police also recommend continuing to use US 61 as an alternate route.
There is no word on injuries in connection with the flipped vehicle at this time, but troopers did say the crash caused a propane leak in the RV.
Check back with this story for lane closure updates and queue information as the afternoon progresses.
