Flipped 18-wheeler closes WBR highway
PORT ALLEN - Witnesses said an 18-wheeler flipped in Port Allen Monday afternoon, blocking traffic north of the city for more than an hour Monday afternoon.
The Department of Transportation and Development said LA 415, also called North Lobdell Highway, was closed at Plantation Avenue in both directions at around 3 p.m. while State Police worked to recover the wrecked tractor trailer. Traffic was diverted onto Plantation Avenue during the recovery operations.
Troopers initially expected the roadway to remain closed for as long as four hours, but traffic officials announced LA 415 was reopened at around 4:20 p.m. with minimal congestion in the area.
There were no injuries in connection with the crash. The truck's driver was cited for careless operation, according to LSP.
