Flash Flood Watch in effect through Sunday Evening
A heavy rain event is forecast for Southeast Louisiana starting today and lasting through the weekend.
A upper-level low, currently over the Northwest Gulf of Mexico, will slowly move over Louisiana all weekend. This will cause scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms to develop beginning late this morning and continuing through the entire weekend. The bulk of the rain will occur each afternoon. Some of the storms will be strong with heavy rain and gusty winds. We could pick up a total of 3 to 6 inches over the next 3 days.
Due to this, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for all of Southeast Louisiana from 10 AM Friday until 7 PM Sunday.
Be sure to keep it tuned to WBRZ, WBRZ.com, our Facebook and Twitter pages as well as our Cable Weather Channel for updates as needed throughout the weekend.
