Flaring seen at Exxon after power failure
BATON ROUGE- ExxonMobil's Baton Rouge Polyolefins plant is flaring chemicals after a power outage at the site.
The Polyolefins plant is north of the old bridge in Baton Rouge in the 12,000 block of Scenic Highway.
Workers at the plant are trying to fix the situation as soon as possible. They stressed in a news release there is no emergency.
Plant leaders say flaring is a safe measure to safely burn virtually all of the hydrocarbons that cannot be processed during a unit shutdown or restart.
