HAMMOND - Police in Hammond say they made three arrests and seized three pounds of high-grade pot along with ecstasy and hallucinogenic mushrooms after firefighters responded to a residence where a pair of vehicles were on fire.

The Hammond Fire Department and Hammond Police responded to the scene on Sunday at around 9 p.m. after they received a call about a vehicle and house fire on Hooks Drive.

When firefighters arrived, they said they found two vehicles parked under the carport of the residence on fire. After getting the fire under control, firefighters observed what appeared to be marijuana inside the home along with a handgun.

Narcotics agents with the Hammond Police Department were called to the scene where they found more than three pounds of high-grade marijuana, about 34 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), an undisclosed amount of “hallucinogenic substance mushrooms” and a Glock 9mm firearm. They estimated the total street value of the illegal drugs to be around $12,000.

Police arrested 24-year-old Keena Harrison, 24-year-old Kristopher Johnson and 24-year-old Kenneth Robinson at the scene for a range of charges including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm while in possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

The arrest report did not include details describing how the vehicles came to be set on fire.
