Five arrested in "purple drank" investigation
PLAQUEMINE - Five current and former nurses at a Plaquemine health clinic have been arrested, accused of selling fake prescription for drugs used to make "purple drank."
"Purple drank" is a slang term for a drug mixture using prescription strength cough syrup.
Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stasi says those arrested were current or former nurses at Prime Health LLC. They are accused of calling in prescriptions for drugs used in cough syrup and selling the drugs for $40 to $50 an ounce.
Stassi says more arrests are expected and the investigation continues.
