Five arrested in home invasion, shooting
GONZALES - Sheriff's deputies arrested five people they said broke into a Gonzales home and claimed to be police, then robbed and shot the person living there.
Major Kevin Hanna with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office said 26-year-old Kristen Theriot, 52-year-old Bryan Richard, 38-year-old Shalen Theriot, 35-year-old Mickey Comeaux, and 38-year-old Darrell Comeaux broke into the home of Brent "Smoke" York, 34, on Ashland Road on Oct. 10. They were accused of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and home invasion.
Hanna said York and several other people were at his home when a group of armed people broke in yelling that they were police, then demanded money. During the incident investigators said York was shot in his legs.
Investigators said a search of York's resident after the robbery found drugs and a stolen gun, which led deputies to arrest him once he was released from the hospital and the people who were at his home when the home invasion happened: 28-year-old Krystal Cedotal, 28-year-old Cody Brown, 34-year-old Sasha Desormeaux, and 44-year-old Nathan Braud.
Hanna said investigators identified the five suspected robbers after a week-long investigation and arrested the Theriots and Richard. They said the two other suspects, brothers Mickey and Darrell Comeaux, were in jail elsewhere for unrelated crimes and would be transferred to Ascension Parish at a later date.
Investigators said they also learned when they arrested Shalen Theriot that he had been shot by one of his co-conspirators. They said he was unclear which one had shot him.
