BATON ROUGE- More than two months after Fitness Concepts closed its doors in December, some members and employees still have questions.
Missy Lynch, a member of the club for three years, claims she went to the facility and found locked doors and a note that said it would reopen, but it never did.
"I requested that the charges to my account be stopped, and they said they couldn't do that because the owner had instructed them that the gym was going to reopen," said Lynch, who was trying to cancel her account. Eventually her contract was cancelled, but now she's worried about employees of the shuttered gym.
Camille Savoie, a former spin instructor at Fitness Concepts, claims she got a returned check from business owner Connie Olah in November.
"It consisted of a 2 week pay check and that check was deposited and rendered NSF by my bank," said Savoie.
Olah told News 2 that she still owed some of her employees money. Savoie says the returned check isn't all she's owed.
"We were due to be paid around that time, but were not paid from the 11/15 to 12/15 pay period, we were not paid," said Savoie, referring to her final weeks at the club.
Now Savoie is concerned priority is going to a new gym Olah is building, Powerhouse Gym, and hopes other employees can be compensated soon.
"There are people that depended on this for their day to day bills and those are the people that I'm sure are super frustrated," said Savoie.
Olah told News 2 she hopes to pay her employees by next week. She claims her current money troubles stem from a bad business deal. She says any members of Fitness Concepts can roll their membership over to Powerhouse Gym when it opens.
