First parish president, new Congressman elected Saturday
BATON ROUGE- There were numerous elections across the state Saturday.
In West Feliciana, voters elected Kevin Couhig as the first parish president. Recently, the parish decided to change the form of government and eliminate the police jury. Couhig (R) beat Tom McVea (R).
Larry Spencer was elected as a justice of the peace in a portion of Southeast Baton Rouge.
To fill the open 5th Congressional seat, Vance McAllister (R) claimed victory late Saturday over Neil Riser (R). This district covers some of the capital area and central and northeast Louisiana.
