First national EAS test not without glitches
WASHINGTON - It was only a test, but it didn't go so well.
Discrepancies were reported across the country during the first-ever test of the Emergency Alert System today.
Some television and radio stations did not air the test at all. Some who aired it stayed with the signal longer than others.
The system allows the president to address the American public within 10 minutes from any location at any time.
Officials at FEMA and at the Federal Communications Commission ordered the test.
