After the passage of a cold front Friday afternoon cooler drier air will be settling on South Louisiana Saturday night and Sunday morning. Temperatures will be dropping into the lower 30s by Sunday morning.
The National Weather Service in Slidell has issued a Freeze Warning until 7am for Pike, Amite and Wilkinson counties in Mississippi and for East Feliciana, St. Helena and Tangipahoa Parishes in Louisiana.
Homeowners and residents should prepare for temperatures to be below freezing in these areas for 4-5 hours overnight until 7am. Do not leave pets or plants outdoors tonight due to the cold. Remember to check your heating systems for problems before they come on automatically tonight. Test your carbon monoxide detectors as well to keep your family safe from the poisonous gas exhausted by many heating systems.
