NEW ROADS – Firefighters in Pointe Coupee Parish battled a fire at an assisted living complex in New Roads Sunday night.

Captain Steven Juge with the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Office said the fire had spread to three units at the False River Manor Apartments on Hospital Road in New Roads. Juge said one unit was completely destroyed.

First responders say one resident was transported to a Baton Rouge hospital with second degree burns. A second resident has been transported with smoke inhalation.
