Fired BR police chief's appeal set for May
BATON ROUGE - Dates have been set for Fired Baton Rouge Police Chief Dewayne White's civil service appeal hearing.
The Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board's chairman, Sgt. Bryan Taylor, told attorneys Wednesday the hearing will be held May 13-15. In an email,
East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Kip Holden fired White last month, accusing him of insubordination and violating departmental policies.
White has denied the charges.
Meanwhile, the Office of State Examiner has tentatively set May 22 as the date for eligible applicants to take the civil service exam for the chief's position.
