Fired Bossier City police officer regains his job
The Bossier City Civil Service Board reinstated an officer fired for accusing an arrested prosecutor of
threatening his job, but suspended him without pay for 90 days.
The board says Phillip Vernon's suspension began Dec. 3 - the day Police Chief Mike Halphen fired him for allegedly filing a false police report.
Attorney Joel Pearce says he will appeal the suspension.
Reserve officer Jared Fisher was also fired - but, as a volunteer, could not appeal.
Sherb Sentell was an assistant district attorney for the Bossier-Webster district when he was arrested at a casino on a charge of domestic abuse battery.
He resigned in October; the state Attorney General's Office said in January that none of the charges
against him was worthy of prosecution.
