Fire with yellow smoke shuts down Florida Blvd.
BATON ROUGE - Firefighters closed a highway and evacuated a business near an underground fire Monday in Baton Rouge.
A fire department spokesperson said they received a report of yellow smoke coming from a fire in a drain on Florida Boulevard. Witnesses told News 2 they saw flames and dark smoke coming out of the drain, which was near a gas station.
As a precaution firefighters evacuated a nearby restaurant and shut down Florida Boulevard between North Ardenwood and Donmoore Avenue while they extinguished the fire.
HazMat crews said air quality around the fire was still normal, but they were continuing to investigate what caused the fire and strange-looking smoke.
