Fire: Two arsons in one hour overnight
BATON ROUGE - Arson is believed to be the cause of two fires in Baton Rouge Saturday morning.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department says the first was at an apartment at about 3:15 a.m. on the 1300 block of North Street. That's near the BREC Spanish Town Park.
Officials say the fire was contained to one room, leaving minimal damage.
The second was a house fire about 5 miles away on Casper Street between Scenic Highway and I-110. The fire was started at about 4 a.m.
Fire fighters say when the flames were burning intensely when they arrived. Officials called the home was a total loss and the Red Cross was called to help the family.
Fire officials tell News 2 that the two incidents are unrelated.
