Fire station named in honor of volunteer killed in explosion
DONALDSONVILLE- A fire station on the west side of the Mississippi River in Ascension Parish was renamed Monday night, honoring the legacy of a volunteer fireman who died in a plant explosion earlier this year.
The McCall Palo-Alto station will now be known as the Ronald "Rocky" Morris Fire Station.
"Rocky is smiling down on us," his wife told a crowd who gathered for the ceremony.
Morris died at C.F. Industries when a pipe ruptured.
Chief Chuck Montero remembered his friend, "he loved working with the department like they are doing."
His family also made a donation to the station.
