Fire reported at Motiva refinery
CONVENT - State Police said a flash fire at the Motiva refinery in St. James Parish Monday was contained to the plant, and did not cause any injuries.
LSP Capt. Doug Cain said the fire happened after 4 p.m. and was handled entirely at the facility. HazMat crews were not needed, and there was no offsite impact from the fire.
An after-hours security worker who answered the phone for Motiva said the fire was under control, and directed all other questions to a company representative.
The Department of Environmental Quality reported they are en route to the facility to investigate the fire.
The facility refines crude oil into a number of different products.
