WBRZ - Baton Rouge

GEISMAR- A fire at the Westlake Vinyls plant on LA 73 in Ascension Parish is now under control according to State Fire Marshal Butch Browning; officials say it may have been the result of an explosion.

Browning says there are no reports of injuries.

The fire was fairly large with several chemicals involved.

LA 30 is now reopened; LA 73 remains closed.

Police are telling drivers to avoid highways in Geimar at this time.
