PORT ALLEN - US Highway 190 at Bueche Rd. remains closed this morning, after a chemical fire at the Air Liquide plant caused officials to shut-down the roadway.
Captain Doug Cain, with Louisiana State Police, says crews have extinguished the fire, but hot spots are still present.
State Police are keeping Hwy. 190 closed while they access the facility and say they must ensure the area is safe before they reopen the roadway to drivers.
Cain also said all of the cylinders at the plant must be examined individually before officials can issue an all-clear.
Meanwhile, the evacuation order is still underway for residents in the area.
Fire broke out at the Air Liquide plant Monday morning, causing dozens of acetylene containers to explode. One person was injured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
News 2 will continue to provide updates to road and evacuation statuses as that information becomes available.
