Fire destroys home on Castlewood Drive

BATON ROUGE – Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire at a home on Castlewood Drive in Baton Rouge late Friday night.

According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, the incident happened around 11:52 p.m. Friday night in the 800 block of Castlewood Drive. Two people were at the home when they smelled smoke and heard cracking noises.

BRFD says the residents left the home and found flames in the eave of the home.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to find the entire roof of the home was engulfed in flames. They were able to contain the fire, but the home was considered a total loss.

Investigators believe the fire caused $175,000 in damages. The Red Cross was also called to assist the residents.
