Fire chief arrested for having pot
GRAND ISLE - The Jefferson Parish sheriff says the Grand Isle fire chief was among 20 people arrested after an undercover operation into drug use on the remote barrier island and recreation spot on the Gulf of Mexico.
Fire Chief Aubrey "T-Black" Chaisson was arrested Thursday morning and booked with possessing marijuana and with an outstanding attachment for contempt of court.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand says volunteer firefighter Patrick Santiny was booked with possessing marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a controlled dangerous substance.
Normand says there was not any evidence that either Chaisson or Santiny took drugs while on duty.
The sheriff says 16 other Grand Isle residents and two residents of Lafourche Parish rounded out the arrests Thursday morning.
