Many in Morgan City still without power
MORGAN CITY - Many in Morgan City are still without power after an explosion at the municipal steam plant Tuesday evening.
According to a release, damage to the plant is worse than initially thought. The new timetable for power restoration is late Wednesday afternon.
St. Mary Parish has opened heat relief shelters for Morgan City residents and special needs citizens.
Morgan City Police tell News 2 the plant was evacuated safely and there were no injuries.
The municipal steam plant providers power to the city and is also part of a cooperative that covers the surrouding area.
